Tesla Wall Connector Not Connecting To Wifi – Solving Basic Problems

The most basic problems which can cause Tesla wall connector wifi connection issues are the issues related to power supply, some internal wall connector faults or certain ground circuit faults.

Once we ensure that you don’t have any of the above issues then we can look further if still you won’t be able to connect Tesla wall connector to wifi.

If your Tesla wall connector has any of the above problems then it will give you a notice with different colors and patterns of light indicators on the LED lightbar.

By identifying a specific pattern of light indicator, you can know what the problem is with Tesla wall connector and how you can solve it.

Here are list of LED indicators on Tesla wall connector that you should not get while doing commissioning. If you are getting it then follow the steps explained below.

1st) Tesla Wall Charger No Light On Lightbar

What does Tesla Wall Charger No Light mean?

If there is no light coming on the light bar then it means either there is Power supply issue or charging is disabled due to some wall charger’s internal fault.

How to Solve No Light Issue on Tesla Wall Connector?

Confirm Power Supply

In No light case, you first need to confirm that the power supply is ON.

There are a few ways you can verify the power supply, like checking with a multimeter on that circuit or checking the main circuit power supply or it’s indicator lights if available. Or you can check with other appliances in your home.

If you have confirmed that the power supply is ON and still no lights on Tesla wall connector then it could be some Voltage up-down causing the issue.

Check Voltage Fluctuation

Then it is required to record the Voltage readings for L1 to L2/N, L1 to Ground and L2/N to Ground.

If voltage up-down is there then you need to figure out what is causing it. Check all electric appliance connections if any overloading causing this. It is also possible that some other factors can also cause voltage fluctuations.

So it is best to have a certified electrician to check the system properly for you.

Internal Circuit Faults

If voltage readings are proper within required limits, then it could mean some internal wiring or circuit faults in the Tesla wall charger.

In this case, you need to contact Tesla Energy customer support with the document part number and serial number.

2nd) Tesla Wall Charger Solid Red Light on Lightbar

What does Tesla Wall Charger Solid Red Light mean?

If you see Solid Red light on lightbar, then it means some Internal wall charger issue is causing the problem.

How to Solve Solid Red Light Issue on Tesla Wall Connector?

In this case, you need to turn the circuit breaker OFF.

Wait for 5 seconds, and turn it back ON.

This can remove any hidden or unknown issue in Tesla wall charger electrical circuit.

If you still see Solid Red light then have document part number & serial number to contact Tesla Energy for customer support.

To contact Tesla customer support, Click on this link: https://www.tesla.com/support/energy/more/additional-support/contact-us

3rd) Tesla Wall Connector Flashing Red Light One Time

What does Tesla Wall Charger Blinking Red Light One (1) Time mean?

If you see Red light flashing single time on wall connector, then it means there is an issue with Ground fault circuit interruption

Due to an unsafe current path, the electrical current took an unplanned path to ground.

So charging is disabled.

How to Solve One (1) Time Blinking Red Light Issue on Tesla Wall Connector?

Check All Electric Connections

In this case you need to inspect the charger handle, cable, wall connector and vehicle charging port. If all are working individually fine.

Check For Any Damage

Need to see if there is any damage or any water infiltration in the charger and overall circuit connection.

Check Ground Connection

Also, needs to be checked whether ground is not directly connected to a conductor wire in the branch circuit.

Have a certified electrician check the things for you and check whether Tesla wall connector is properly grounded.

4th) Tesla Wall Connector Flashing Red Light Two Times

What does Tesla Wall Charger Blinking Red Light Two (2) Times mean?

If you see Red light flashing two times on wall connector, then it means that wall connector doesn’t have proper ground connection.

Due to improper connection, it detected high ground resistance.

So charging is disabled.

How to Solve Two (2) Times Blinking Red Light Issue on Tesla Wall Connector?

Check Ground Connection

In this case you again need to verify that wall connector is properly grounded.

Check All Electric Connections

All physical connections like, electric panels, wirebox terminals and junction boxes need to be checked.

Respectively certain things need to be checked, depending on whether Tesla wall connector is connected to residential power supply or transformer.

Have a certified electrician to check a proper ground connection for you.

So, these were the four kinds of light indicators you need to sort out first if you see them before you connect Tesla wall connector to wifi.

If you have solved the issue then you can follow the steps mentioned earlier here to connect Tesla wall connector to wifi.

If there is no issue with Tesla wall connector referring to light indicators in the first place then go ahead and refer to the guide I am giving in the next section here.
