How To Open Tesla Charge Port? [6 ways to open!]

There are 6 ways to open the charge port in Tesla. I have listed all the ways below showing you steps to open charge port with images.

So now go and get your Tesla’s charge port open and start filling up the juice..!

1. Press the button on Tesla charger handle

Steps:

1. Get the Tesla charger handle
2. Go nearby charge port and
3. Press the button over the handle as shown in the image below.

It will open the charge port.

Remember, it only works with Tesla chargers, not with other chargers.

2. From Tesla dashboard screen

Steps:

1. Go to charging controls and
2. tap on ‘Unlock Charge Port’ or ‘Lightning bolt’ icon.

It will then open the charge port.

3. From Tesla app

Steps:

1. Open Tesla app and
2. tap on Tap on ‘Lock’ icon or ‘Lightning Bolt’ Icon as shown in images below.

It will open the charge port.

4. By voice command

Steps:

1. Activate voice commands by Long pressing right scroll wheel on Tesla steering wheel as shown in images below and
2. Say ‘Open charge port’

It will open up the charge port.

5. Using key fob

Steps:

1. Get Tesla key fob
2. Press rear trunk button for 2 seconds.

It will open the charge port.

6. From Tesla rear tail light flap panel

Steps:

1. Go to rear tail light on the left side where Tesla charge port is located
2. Gently tap the Tesla rear tail light flap panel as shown in image below.

It will open the charge port. Charge port door in Tesla is actually part of the rear tail light assembly. So it seems we are pressing rear tail light.
